Ever since the last Windows update, it had been running kind of weird, and this morning I started getting notifications telling me to restart the PC so that it could attempt repairs. I bought an external SSD from Amazon today and tried to copy my files over before what I felt was an impending failure, but the PC shit the bed right as I was still in the middle of copying files.

I did the Chkdsk which completed, but then it went straight to an Automatic Repair, which couldn't repair anything. In my experience in IT, this means that either something in Windows has screwed up, or the hard drive itself is starting to go bad.

I was planning on getting a new PC this year anyway, but I was hoping that my laptop would at least hold out until then. I've had no problems with it until now.
