Its not open world thats the issue. Its the ultra-high fidelity cinematic single player games, of which very few are open world. Breath of the Wild cost less than half what these big Sony games cost. You can make open world games affordably they just dont look like Spider-Man 2. But also, Immortals of Aveum cost $125m. Those budgets need to come down. Breath of the Wild would not be an exception here. Half of the budget of the Sony Spider-Man games is still $150-200 million. Granted, I don't think we actually know Nintendo budgets because they're very opaque, but another part of the issue isn't just fidelity but development time going up (ie longer time paying all the developers), and games take years and years to make. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! https://www.backloggd.com/u/HDT/ ...
