I think the film would have eulogized the Road Runner cartoons. How could you make new shorts about Wile E. Coyote using Acme products to try and catch the Road Runner after making a movie about a lawsuit? Even if they were in different continuities, I think people would be looking at it like it was a settled dispute.

That said, the whole notion of a tax write-off on a movie is terrible. It's literally charging people for a film they're never going to see because that money comes from tax-payers. I agree with the people in the other topic who said that, if you're going to label a property as a write-off, it should automatically be released to the public domain.

Even then, it's still bullshit to think that you deserve money because you wrote film that isn't likely to perform well at the box office. But, at the very least, they should not be able to shelve it and make money off of it.
