I never found that owning a home was more work than renting. That said, I bought a brand new house and the company that built had to come and sort out anything that went wrong with it for the first ten years, and I only lived there for three.
So you have the benefits of renting without any of the dealing with a landlord BS?

I have had my house for almost 13 years at this point, and I have had to replace every appliance in it except the heater (likely will be replaced this summer since it is 24 years old), the washer (likely needs to be replaced since it leaks water ever time I use it) and the dryer (Dryer will probably last forever, although I did replace the belt on it a few years back). I also have to replace the deck, and in a few years probably the roof.

That said, despite all of that, I still would never rent again.
