I was in a bad wreck 3/11/22, my whole car did a front flip. Some of you might remember the topic, it had pictures. I refused going to the hospital at first because I thought I was fine. My mother who was giving me a ride home at the time kind of scared me into visiting a hospital because I felt small pain in my chest where the seat belt was. I went in but as soon as they brought me in I was scared of the costs because I cant afford healthcare. The doctor told me whether or not I walked out now or they would charge me the same regardless of if I did a vitals test. So he did the scan where they check for liquids to see if I had internal bleeding and I was fine and discharged.

Lo and behold, my charge came in the mail for $1,317 dollars. After being hounded by debit collectors for two years now, I just got a letter offering a discounted charge of $921.90 dollars. Still a massive amount to me but its a lot better. Still annoyed that I initially tried to appeal the cost to PaymentsMD and upon review they declined to lower the charge.
