It seems to be a badge of honor to struggle on your own in the states. If you have parents who are willing to let you live there for free, and both parties are happy, take advantage. There's no bonus points for struggling through life. it's one of those self afflicted wounds in society. For men if you still live with your parents you "failed" while nobody really bats an eye if a woman still lives with her parents because they expect her to move in with her boyfriend or something.
