The detection used in their Youtube Adblock ban is illegal, too: https://www.dexerto.com/tech/youtube-accused-of-using-illegal-adblock-detection-in-premium-sub-push-2387652/
Important part, that you'll eventually get through from scrolling down twitter (or nitter, if you won't log into twitter)

this is an interesting bit:
Publishers may want to err on the side of caution and obtain consent for the
use of ad blocker detection scripts to preempt and avoid any legal challenges.
Yeah... that's not going to end up as obscured and abusive dark patterns at all, right?

Publishers could use two practical solutions to request and obtain consent for
the use of ad blocker detection: a consent banner or a consent wall.
Publishers could also make use of a combination of the two to complement
each other.
...and that was fast.
