You can be religiously Jewish without being ethnically Hebrew. You can be ethnically Hebrew without practicing Judaism. Most people in Israel are both, but not all. This is of course a massive oversimplification of it but as a basic explanation it works. I think there's even more to it, because IMO to some it is more of a cultural thing. My family is Jewish, I had a Bar Mitzvah, we celebrate Chanukah, Passover, but we are not really religious, yet being Jewish is a major part of our identity and culture and the traditions for us are more cultural than religious --- Shelton undoubtedly wants Cena's championship belt.
