Outside of appearing at the end of Loki, and being a villain in the ant man movie who got literally defeated by ants, he has made 0 appearances and theres nothing building up to him. With the lead up to infinity war/endgame we saw the stones in action and Thanos working behind the scenes, controlling other threatening villains
