13. At The End Of Eight (Amazon Prime)

So I turned on Amazon Prime and this was the first thing listed under my recommended feed. It had a bunch of awards that I wasn't able to make out and I said eh, screw it. It is an independent movie made by a college kid in Texas that won a bunch of local Texas awards.

So keeping all of that in mind... It's not a great movie. Bad acting, bad choreography, and a simple plot. I feel bad dunking on it too hard because it's a college kid's movie and he found success in it. Which good for him! I'm glad! He's got a bright future, because the cinematography was there, and with more resources and better actors, he has a better movie. Not to mention that the story, for what it is, shows more ambition than I'd expect.

At The End Of Eight is about a competition where if you sneak into someone's home and come out in eight hours, you're given a boat load of money. Simple enough, except the person living there is very dangerous.

So I won't get into everything I mentioned before. I'd like to be a bit more positive about the story, in that the characters are all given backgrounds and you understand their motivations. They might not be the best, and the twists and turns the story goes on are alright. And it's got a short runtime of 77 minutes. I wasn't bored by any means, but it's just not terribly compelling.

If home invasion, but flipped around, is your jam, and you want to support a college kid's movie that made it to Amazon streaming, feel free to check it out. The director, Rankin Dean, has a future with this. I'll check out whatever he manages to do this. But ultimately, it's not a great film.

Rating: 3/10
