2. Till Death (Netflix... But it's gone now)

So I squeezed this one in right before it left Netflix the day of. I don't know how you can watch this if you're interested now.

Till Death is a movie starring Megan Fox, of all actresses, is a woman married to her abusive ex-husband. After being taken to a remote vacation home in winter for their annivesary, Megan Fox's character wakes up the next morning handcuffed to her dead husband's body. She must now try to escape, but all of the objects that could help her escape are gone. Things get more complicated when people start arriving to the home as well.

So first, I wanted to do a little research to see just what the hell Megan Fox has been in lately. Because this felt like the only movie I saw her in for the past few years. She's been in a few movies every year since 2019, which uh, was a surprise to me. Her career really went into a nosedive for whatever reason. I have only heard of this one and the new Expendables movie.

Of course, I also know her from the new Mortal Kombat game where she plays Nitara where she was, to put it lightly, criticized for her voice acting work. But I defended her saying that she probably recorded those with one or two takes and had very limited direction to do her lines. And then this movie got a really good review score, so I thought I'd see what Megan Fox could do.

Well let me tell you that Megan Fox is a very disjointed performer. I really found myself surprised a lot of times that her acting was so wooden and that people were praising her acting in this movie. And then I was equally surprised when some other scenes, she had legitimately great performances. Very rarely was it ever somewhere in between.

But enough about Megan Fox. The movie itself has a very good script. It's got some compelling twists in it and creative choices that I legitimately enjoyed. They manage to make a tense film out of these constraints, and the danger present to our protagonist feels very real, and none of this seems contrived. All of it is logical. It's a smart script. I also enjoyed the directing choices as well. I was surprised to see that the director hasn't done a feature film before or after this, but I'll at least check out what he does next.

It suffers a bit in where everything feels good, nothing ever becomes great. I never really felt myself loving any aspect of this movie. If you're looking for an easy movie to watch and the premise interests you, I don't think you'll be disappointed. But I had more to say about Megan Fox than the movie itself, so that should tell you something.
