The whole issue was that it let ISPs dictate which information was more valuable than others, so they could do pay for play depending on who was paying for their services, & throttle & slow down who they wanted, when they wanted. Some data was more equal than others.

Under net neutrality, all information & uses were given equal use for traffic & broadcasting availability. Rich businesses couldn't just pay to stuff your availability to access sites or information just because you couldn't match what they paid for the best Internet.
My favorite analogy was that it would be like your speed limit while driving depended on the state your plate was issued in.
