Steve Harvey is the only one I'd say is a slam dunk of the ones hosting today, and that's because of an entirely different "it factor." The guy males the Feud fun to watch.

I enjoyed Ray Combs more, growing up. Might have been a difference in age, idk.

As for production changes, every show is increasingly focused on not giving us the actual product. Nowhere was that more evident than when they tried to reboot American Gladiators.
Old show: 6 events plus Eliminator, for 36 mins of show and 24 of ads. Almost all of those 36 were of the events.
New show: 4 events including Eliminator, for 30 min of show if we were lucky. At least half of those 30 were spent on not-the-events.

Ninja Warrior is the same way, American vs original. Family Feud is a shell of what it once was, where a game would span two single rounds, two doubles, a triple if necessary, and only then go to sudden death. Under the current format, it's impossible for one family to get to 300 unless they sweep all three rounds.
