This story doesn't even make sense. You think that if that sign had existed there for these boaters that day, they would have turned around and got more water? They already brought water and thought they had enough. Why would a sign telling them to drink water if it's hot change their actions at all or make them think they for some reason needed more water? I don't see the daily temp forecast on that sign? I don't see the recommended liters hours per temp on there? All I see is a sentence more pointless than your story.

sweet christ, the point is that people DO underestimate and having reminders hurts no one and is therefore better than nothing. It's not always going to help but this story illustrates that we need more education available and you're railing against that.
