All I play is 5e and I don't recall anything like this... I know the spell Detect Evil & Good is specific to supernatural stuff (fey, fiends, celetials, etc.) But otherwise I didn't know the rest... Alignment has been one of the more controversial things in d&d since 3rd edition when people started complaining about how it was stupid and not logical. In 4th edition they tried to rectify this by making the dumbest alignment system known to man. I'm convinced they hired a former bioware dev to make it. Then in 5e they said hell with it and scrapped the whole thing and now anything can be any alignment outside of special exceptions. You want to have a lawful good red dragon?
