Never forget that Bilbo was 50 at the start of The Hobbit.

He was also a member of race that lived longer than humans (hobbits weren't considered adults until 33), so he was more like a modern human somewhere in their 30s.

(And yes, that means Frodo was essentially the hobbit equivalent of a teenager when Lord of the Rings starts)

Bilbo also got a magic ring that made him functionally immortal for about 60 years, so he's a filthy cheater regardless.

That's "average", in the same way that the "ideal" average human lifespan is somewhere between 65-75 in the most advanced countries.
