It doesn't change the fact that politics literally cannot operate without parties.

Call them shit all you like, it is 100% impossible to get hundreds of people in a room together to try to pass policy without factions forming. People will work together to get stuff passed; that's the only way to get anything done.

"We'll, they're toxic" The alternative is to somehow get 535 people with completely different ideologies and no overlap to all run and get elected without appealing to any ideology overlap with any other candidate, and all somehow vote on policies without any communication or bridge-building between them. It's impossible to the point of absurdity.
