TopicMan, Spider-Man (2002) is kinda... not great, in retrospect.

Rewatching it for the first time since middle-school cause I've been on a Spidey kick after Spiderverse.

But man... I know a lot of people like Tobey, but he's pretty awful in the first one IMO. He's just so... cringey. >_>

He and Mj's romance is dumb, his interactions with almost everyone is just painfully awkward, even as Spider-Man, the writing is honestly pretty cheesy in general. Spidey, barely quips, and when he does, they honestly aren't very good.

"It's you who's out Gobby. Out of your mind."

The only things that save this movie are Willem Dafoe and J.K. Simmons. I've just been waiting for them to come back on screen in between the lame Tobey breaks. They alone make this film worth the revisit.

Also the upside-down kiss in the rain scene is dumb. Yeah, I said it.

I do remember liking 2 a lot more even as a kid, so I think I will rewatch that next, but man. I just really don't like Tobey as Spidey in this first one. Dunst isn't a very good MJ either.
