Cluemaster

Arthur Brown, worst father of the year, a husband of lesser ilk, a career criminal with nothing to show for it, was inspired by a dog in a riot to change his ways - somewhat - paving his path to a life in politics. The Cluemaster spent No Mans Land developing the necessary acumen to take on the role of mayor of Gotham, a role he held onto through the most turbulent year in the history of Gotham City. By the end of No Mans Land, Cluemaster had legitimately won a citywide election, officially crowning himself mayor as the city transitioned back to American soil. From there, Cluemaster, and his close personal aide, Xander Stray, made their way to Washington, winning a New Jersey Senate seat during, once again, one of the more turbulent periods in American history. In fact, the Cluemaster was riding a tidal surge of momentum that was leading him to a prominent position in the government - a cabinet seat, maybe more - when A-Day struck. Now, Arthur is the second-in-command to the Mad Hatter, the warden of Alcatraz (still a position of power). But Arthur doesnt seem content to simply travel down the path of Darkseids control of America, and in a moment of opportunity, he passed along a message to Spirit that allowed Checkmate agents to escape imprisonment and take back some prescient warnings to Zonn Zorr.

Last campaign saw the introduction of a raving madman who shouted about the price of milk, a madman who was given direction and meaning by a toddler pup. That madman became the mayor became the senator... and now we live in a world where chaos rules, villains have united, and just when you're ready to assume Cluemaster is standing against you in a hundred different places, he reveals himself in one of the most unlikely draws imaginable - Alcatraz. As its warden. Well, I mean, Arthur HAS been aiming to portray himself as the law and order candidate, after all. It's just good optics. Cluemaster's brief appearances once again reveal that though he may be the poor man's Riddler, that scale grades on a motherfucking curve. Cluemaster is plotting, has been plotting, likely started plotting the very minute he climbed on board the good ship Hatterpop, all with the aim to see that some semblance of order be restored. Arthur Brown has transformed, become a changed man. And in a world where heroes fall, it may be a villain that must save us all. Vote Brown, 2008. Our lives may depend on it.
