Ive never played a fighting game before apart from very recently guilty gear strive. A while back I tried the skull girls tutorial but couldnt complete the bread and butter tutorial where you do a long ass ground combo, launch and then long ass air combo into a super. So I never continued

been playing strive and having a lot of fun. Highest I got was floor 9 but couldnt make floor 10. It seems like every god damn player knows combos, and particularly wall combos since if they get even a single hit in Im basically dead. Even at floor 6. But despite that I managed to use May to get to floor 9 with sneaky orca supers, but it doesnt feel real since I cant do wall combos or any combos

will try street fighter as well, I already pre-ordered it. Modern mode seems like an ok way to learn but I feel like my major weakness is learning combos and modern mode wont transfer to other games and feels like cheating

One of the things that makes street fighter great is that there's usually characters that are completely viable with short or simple combo routes. In 5 I played Rashid, and never needed to do anything that was more than a 4 or 5 move combo. It looks like sf6 is moving away from that slightly, but if you end up playing a grappler then you might be able to focus on mind games and forcing the guess instead of long execution paths
