The version of the events that the boy's mother released said that she first tried asking some of the boys if she could rent the bike they were guarding, they told her "No we're going to be leaving on it soon". She tried asking a few of them, and than when the first 3 or 4 refused her she went and swiped a bike that she hadn't asked about. I'm not certain what the woman's version of events was.
