Look, I personally was trying to hold judgement until we had the facts. I thought it could turn out to be a misunderstanding (which does not seem to be the case) or that both sides might have been wrong in some way (which does seem to be the case). Definitely there were racists assuming those boys were coming to steal her bike and that she was just defending herself against the "thugs." Right wingers assuming the boys were criminals were all over the place, and TC was one of them. I also saw people immediately assuming she was an obnoxious, entitled Karen and even saying things like she was trying to get those boys killed... with a lot of misogyny mixed in. One Twitter account even compared her to the lady who got Emmett Till lynched. I'm not saying they were as bad as the right wingers overall, but they were pretty bad. videospirit posted... Not gonna copy all that here. Good summary but I don't know if I sympathize with the nurse as much. She's the adult so I think she has more of a responsibility to control her temper, though I understand it can be hard when you're exhausted and in a terrible mood. Swiping the card was a very dickish, passive aggressive move. Then it seems she panicked as her little stunt backfired on her and she realized the kid could just ride off on the bike and she'd have to pay for it. Fortunately for her, while those boys were jerks (in the way teenage boys typically are) they weren't thieves. And it was pretty racist of her to assume that. --- And who are you, my little friend?
