Across the board, TotK is unmistakably a sequel to BotW in that it improves and expands on BotW quite considerably, but the core game is still BotW in the sense that it focuses on open exploration and environmental puzzle-solving instead of item-based progression and discrete dungeons. I can't necessarily speak to the temples themselves because I haven't gone to any yet, but overall the game is definitely "BotW, but better" and not "BotW, but more like traditional Zelda." --- This is my signature.
