#3 - Susie Thompkins

This isn't a serious ranking.

The niece of Lois Lane, Susie Tompkins was whisked away from Kansas during the upheaval following the Battle of Metropolis. During a tour of the Doom Patrol Headquarters, Susie discovered the helmet of the long-forgotten hero Mento, and, as she donned it, she gained unimaginable abilities. Susie was overcome by the nature of the helmet, and it changed her. After trickery freed her from her capped imprisonment, Susie gravitated to Rosetta, who she saw as someone who might care for her in the way Sisty and Dinky did not. Thus, Susie came to be adopted by Rosetta, remaining at her side as long as she could manage. Rosetta, in an effort to help normalize the straying tendencies of violence in Susies mind, has enlisted tutelage from the likes of Catman and Jesse Custer to help curb the worrying nature of Susies psychopathy. It has since been found that Susie is a very big fan of cats. Recently, Susie Tompkins was selected to join a field team in Las Vegas, which resulted in her disappearance on multiple occasions, usually to surprising results. Since that time, Susie has been a member of the infiltration team, has arrested Bloodfruit for a B&E, and has slowly been cultivating Sarah Washington to be her personal OMAC.

No one fails to emote like Susie. No one silently attempts to commit heinous atrocities like Susie. And especially no one has captured the heart of the death-worshipping Saturnian cultist like Susie. And, I admit, she's especially good at the little moments. Giving her a unique "mechanic" in terms of roleplaying means that suddenly there is an extremely fresh voice to be had from a presentation perspective, but Susie goes beyond that. I admit that I am often fascinated by the mentally divergent. Susie's lack of emotions, her inability to experience empathy... these are subjects that I think have hardly ever been tackled in these campaigns, and to put such heady subjects on the shoulders of a child, one that should be a totem of innocence... I think that's a recipe for something really special. Can Susie teach herself right and wrong? Can she ever intuit what she's meant to feel? I can't wait to see. Her mother certainly believes in her, believes in giving Susie every opportunity to succeed that she can manage - but at the same time, Roz'etta isn't a firm hand. Susie is allowed to get away with certain kinds of murder. The question is, if Roz'etta pushes back, will she lose her precious little girl?

Two to go. We're halfway there.
