When it became culturally impractical or impossible for the Republicans to attack gay marriage anymore, they found another minority target that it was still acceptable to marginalize.

They need it to keep their base radicalized and voting for their regressive and hateful policies.

I feel like I probably fit somewhere in the middle on this one, hard for me to take any one side really. It's like I am totally open to people having their sexuality and true identity, especially as I'm gay, but at the same time I am not totally on board with the far left on everything either.

I honestly think everything LGBT+ has attracted far too many extremists on both sides, at least from a political standpoint.
