Wheat in particular has a very high glycemic index, even in whole wheat products, so limiting that for anyone trying to keep their blood sugar under control is a good idea. That's still not gluten itself, though, just using "gluten-free" labels as a convenient proxy to help avoid wheat products. --- This is my signature.
