Isaac is the main protagonist of the first Golden Sun game, otherwise known as The Broken Seal. It was one of the earliest Game Boy Advance games, being revealed at Spaceworld 2000 and released just under a year later in 2001.

Isaac is an Earth Adept, meaning he has the ability to cast magic elemental spells (known as Psynergy) relating to quakes, plants, and the like. His hometown is the usually peaceful village of Vale, which is also home to plenty of other Adepts. However, at the young age of 17, Isaac must go on a difficult and unprecedented journey when his childhood friend Jenna and local scholar Kraden are kidnapped. Thankfully, he doesnt have to do it alone, as Garet, his other childhood friend and a Fire Adept, is right beside him. Later joining the quest are Ivan, a Wind Adept with a mysterious background and the ability to read minds, and Mia, a healer Water Adept with a connection to one of the villains.

Just 11 months later, the sequel, The Lost Age, released. Things take a different turn as Isaac and his crew are put on the backburner, with you now in control of Felix, one of the NPCs from the first game and older brother of Jenna, whos also playable. To say anything more would spoil plenty of twists.

Just over 8 years later, the third game, Dark Dawn, released for the DS after being revealed under the name Golden Sun DS at E3 2009. This entry takes place 30 years after the GBA duology. Here, the main character is Matthew, son of Isaac.

Melee released too soon after the original Golden Sun game for there to be any content relating to it, so it would not be until Brawl came along that things representing the Golden Sun franchise would pop up. Alongside an arranged track, there would be an assist trophy of Isaac. When hes summoned, he casts Move, a common utility Psynergy often used in the Golden Sun games to push aside pillars and other obstacles. In Brawl though, its just used to smack the fighters across the screen. Notably, like some other assist trophies in Brawl, Isaac had to be unlocked before he would regularly appear in matches. This oddity was done away with in 4.

Isaac was one of 9 assist trophies from Brawl cut in 4. However, he was one of two that returned in Ultimate, the other being Gray Fox. This was especially surprising since whereas Gray Fox was cut in 4 likely because they didnt have the license to use the Metal Gear IP, there were no such issues with Isaac (being a character from a Nintendo published series) and on top of that, there were no new Golden Sun games released in the timeframe between 4s and Ultimates releases, so why Isaac returned and not any of the other 6 (Little Mac was upgraded to playable fighter) abandoned assists is unknown. Even more intriguing is that he doesnt just cast Move anymore, now having Pound and Lift to select if he chooses.

Fun Fact: In the first two GS games, Move was originally classified as a Mars (Fire) Psynergy. This is alluded to in that Garet, like Isaac, can also cast Move. In Dark Dawn, it was changed to be under the Venus (Earth) alignment. This is likely because it was more commonly associated with Earth Adepts. Three of the four playable Earth Adepts in the series (Isaac, Felix, and Matthew) can use Move, as opposed to only one Fire Adept (Garet).

(Another long write up, and perhaps the final one.

During Save my Kirby Copy Ability, I had kept my favorite ability a secret until it was eliminated as to avoid biased results. There, it was Hi-Jump.

Isaac has been eliminated, so I can now reveal hes my favorite assist trophy. Well, maybe not assist trophy (Id probably say Resetti was my favorite in terms of functions as an assist), but favorite character when referring to their series of origin. I love Golden Sun way too much. Maybe it was already obvious and I did a poor job at keeping it a secret.

Isaac preformed really well. He beat out every Fire Emblem character, every Kirby character, most third party characters including very iconic ones like Bomberman and Shovel Knight, and even every Mario character. That includes fellow CAMELOT creation Waluigi, who placed 49(!!) places lower than Isaac.

With this, Dr. Kawashima is the last character from a universe that doesnt have a playable fighter, and Alucard is the last character whose name starts with a vowel.

This round lasted over 12 hours, so the next one will stay at five saves.)
