Given that he is supposed to be a billionaire, the jury could have opted for much higher punitive damages. There is apparently no punitive damages cap in NY, so it would likely only be capped with the national guideline SCOTUS gave a long time ago - that it can't be more than 10x compensatory damages. So Trump could have been looking at close to a $50 million judgment.
