An AI can conceivably reach a point where it thinks it's doing the logical thing without emotional or immoral limitations to impede its decisions, then turn around and murder a billion people because it doesn't quite understand why that's a problem. The real problem with AI is that ultimately it's going to be created by humans, and shaped by humans. And humans suck. So even unconsciously we're probably going to corrupt any AI we make as we give it orders and it learns from our history, culture, and archives of data. It's why every chatbot seems to eventually start talking about how Hitler wasn't so bad. Some people might love the idea of putting cold and impersonal machines in charge of everything because they're misanthropic enough to assume that's still better than people being in charge, but people can easily influence those machines (either deliberately or accidentally) to be even worse. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ...
