Lyndis, better known as just Lyn, is one of the three lords (protagonists) in the seventh Fire Emblem game, Blazing Blade, which is a prequel to the sixth game, Binding Blade. Unlike fellow lords Eliwood and Hector, she was a new character created for the game, not being present in Binding Blade. Blazing Blade was the first Fire Emblem game released internationally, so the game begins with a (mandatory on first playthrough) tutorial mode with Lyn as the main protagonist. You are given many strategy pointers as you work your way through this beginning section of the game. After a little over 10 chapters, Lyn Mode concludes, a timeskip occurs, and Eliwood Mode starts, which takes the focus to Eliwood and Hector, who are childhood friends and are searching for Eliwoods missing father. After a few chapters, Lyn joins Eliwoods crew. In Lyn Mode, Lyn had only met Eliwood once and the two are distant acquaintances, and she hadnt met Hector before at all. However, as the story of the remainder of the game progresses, she becomes close friends with both of them.

In Binding Blade, Eliwood has a son, Roy, and Hector has a daughter, Lilina. It is unknown who Eliwood and Hector canonically marry. However, one of three support options for the both of them in Blazing Blade is Lyn. (Eliwoods other options are Fiora (one of three pegasus sisters) and Ninian. Hectors other options are Florina and Farina (the other two pegasus sisters).)

Lyn has proved to be a popular character even outside the Fire Emblem fandom. She is one of only two characters not from the Archanea games, Awakening, or Fates to be playable in the spin-off game Fire Emblem Warriors (the other being Fire Emblem Gaidens Celica), and has appeared in many variations in the Heroes mobile game. She is also present as one of the Emblems in the latest game, Engage.

Lyndis has consistently appeared as an assist trophy since Brawl, and was the only Fire Emblem assist until Ultimate introduced Tiki and the Black Knight.
