#317:

I'll make a note about those songs and get to them someday.

Per usual, I'll likely be taking time off during VGMC's nomination period (the 19th through the 29th) as there will be hundreds of songs to try to listen to & I basically drop everything to focus on that each year. So just a heads-up about that hiatus before it hits. For now, four more of UF8's first batch of songs:

Ken Namba - Hanasaku mori ni hibiku uta wa, atarashii monogatari no hajimari wo tsugeru. (self cover):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUNFfW56CmM

Estimated Score: 77.09

Why is this song so good?? Feels like it's been forever since we had a song come close to breaking into the top 5. Even the parts of this video that aren't really part of the song (the AIM Music Development logo jingle & the quiet outro which I *think* is just a video outro and not part of the song itself) are fire. I really, really like this song; I... don't quite want to jump it up to the 70 point tier and a quick relisten of Electric Callboy's Fuckboi confirms that I do prefer that song (though this is still the closest anything's come to knocking it out of the top 5), but still, this is definitely one of the best songs to come out of the Post Ranking thus far.

Nanashi (Topia user) - Omoitsumugu (composer: n_o.b_o)

Estimated Score: 59.64 [Upgraded to 60.00]

Even if I try to forget it, it won't disappear
Only pain

Been a while since I noted a lyric for conveying sufficiently blunt paint. This isn't really a sad song, there's plenty of hope & determination:

I became strong enough to start walking
The words I want to convey now, from here
Beyond the circling seasons
I'm going to meet you

Which is fine. I actually like the optimism here, for whatever reason. The only low point is the very beginning of the song... it's all a bit uninteresting until things pick up a bit, so I'm not quite sure that I want to move it up to the 60 point mark.

...Though that portion is brief and I do like the vast majority of the song... yeah, let's go ahead and give it a little nudge so it can join the all-consuming clump.

Kazuya Okada - Early Summ:eR::
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-oODTKKqF4

Estimated Score: 70.00

I actually really like his voice and the general atmosphere of this track. It does feel a bit long at over seven minutes, but I actually really like this one so I'm fine with it dragging on a bit longer than it probably needed to.

AZKi - afterglow (composer: Daijiro Nakagawa):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiddR-oZta4

Estimated Score: 78.00

AZKi doesn't usually reach the very top of the scoreboards, but she's become someone that I always really look forward to hearing again anyway. It's just oddly comforting to know that she's still out there doing her thing. Or at least was; it's been a few months since her last video and this song is a painful goodbye. The only reason I checked to see if there were any songs after this one is because this one feels really final--with lines about this being the last time and it being for the best that we forget her, I'm a bit surprised that this *wasn't* a "goodbye forever" response since the song is very much saying that.

Aaanywho, this is one of her best songs and I really, really like the painful nature of this track. It's enough to place this as the fourth highest scoring song thus far, which is quite an achievement.

Currently deciding on a new sig because as funny as the last quote was, it did inadvertently sound like I hated Fire Emblem Engage.
