It may not be that popular in the strict numbers sense, but plenty of conservative politicians are virtue signalling by pushing anti-trans legislation and rhetoric for the sake of attracting votes from the more fervent transphobes. Trans people are absolutely under attack in America, even if most conservative voters don't actually care about attacking them, which is why the pushback against such rhetoric is so strong. --- This is my signature.
