If I referred to an avocado as a zabouca (which is what it's sometimes referred to in my motherland), that would be a new word for you to be exposed to. The situation here is individuals that look at the existing vocabulary and say, no that's not good enough I need a different word -- without being able to tell me a good reason -- or really any kind of reason whatsoever.
