Is it just me or is there a bunch of posters I don't recognize coming out of the wood work to defend Trump?

Along with several that I do recognize, but have been mostly lurking or absent since it became clear that their election fraud narrative wasn't gaining any traction and Trump wasn't going to get to stay. A similar thing happened when Trump first took power: These are people who normally don't express their opinions in fora like this because of how unpopular and indefensible they are, but having people like Trump publicly validating them gives them the confidence to speak up (which, in turn, encourages more such people to show their faces because those other people make them more comfortable).

This isn't trolling.

There's a very, very high chance that a sizable percentage of it is foreign agents (and a non-trivial amount of domestic ones) stirring the pot for the sake of destabilizing the country, in the same vein as the interference campaign Russia was found to have run in the 2016 election. Some people are genuinely on board with the ideas and might actually act on them (hence Jan 6th happened), but a lot of the primary instigators probably are just trolling for such responses. There's still a very non-negligible risk of harm, but that's true of all trolling: If you're actively pissing people off, there's a risk that the pissed-off people hurt somebody or something.
