And the overwhelming majority of the millions of Pit Bulls, Pit mixes and dogs in general live their lives and die without harming a single human. The same argument that you try to make about irresponsible gun owners is the same one I can say about dog owners. Responsible owners don't have those kind of problems with their dogs.

And yet I still think we should have gun control and "punish" all gun owners for the dangers caused by some.
You still ignore that these are completely preventable deaths as no one needs a pit bull or similar at all. If grizzly bears were a domestic animal that we essentially created, I'd call for us to stop breeding them even if only 1% of owners let them maul someone to death. An animal that can cause so much destruction should not be in our neighborhoods. People can own a poodle, or a hamster.

Breed Specific Legislation has been proven time and time again to be a waste of resources, money and does not work to prevent serious dog bites. Every professional organization that seriously works with canines does not agree to it. That time would be better spent educating owners on dog training and safety, enforcing leash laws, giving incentives to folks for spaying/neutering their animals and requiring breeders to be licensed. If you think a 40 lbs Pit Bull is scary wait until you find out what a Central Asian Ovcharka is and people start to overbreed them. Instead if moving the goalposts to whatever breed looks scary that time would be better spent educating the public on proper dog management, the former never approaches the root of the problem which is irresponsible ownership.
