I developed type 2 diabetes about 8 years ago or so, while working out 3 hours a day (Swimming laps/water areobics etc) and only having about 20 extra pounds that were stubburn.

They put me on oral meds (including Glipizide) and didn't mention that it tends to make you gain about 30 pounds. Worked out that whole summer and went in to the doctor (3 months later), to find out I GAINED 15 pounds. Admittingly I was not in bad shape, and didn't notice the extra weight, but I was really freaking bummed.

Anyway, once you do get it, sugar is really bad for you, bread is bad for you, pasta is bad for you, PIZZA is bad for you. Seriously what is the point of life without pizza?

Yeah, yeah, I know, cauliflower crust etc. That isn't pizza to me. Sigh.

Anyway, I don't know what caused me to get it, diabetes doesn't run in my family, but I do know I drank a TON of soda my whole life till I got it. I did eat lots of carbs as well, but I had a super fast metabolism that prevented me from gaining weight.

Now I am a sad panda who drink water/coffee and sometimes apple cider, but no soda or sugary drinks, barely ever has pizza at all (this is probably hell), and still has high blood sugar levels even tanking multiple medications.

I don't know what gave me Diabetes but I curse whatever it was, unless it's pizza, I won't curse pizza even if it kills me, it has given me too much happiness and even if it was the cause, it was worth it.
