You're fucked on the figure front if it's Square-Enix, because most of their figures will be the Play Arts Kai stuff which is overpriced for the quality.

For figures you want to aim for a few specific brands depending on the type you want.
Ex: Posable, non-posable scales, prize figures (less detailed, but more affordable), nendoroids etc.

Amiami is often a first stop for anything new, but if you don't mind pre-owned there's good stuff. Japanese pre-owned items listed there are in generally good condition, but keep an eye on the grading. Just search for your series and apply filters as necessary.
