V is Vergil's humanity, separated entirely from the influence of his demonic heritage.

It thus shows that Vergil has the potential to be a Laird of the Dance, but the sins of Sparda have irrevocably taken that from him.
V is a look at Vergil with less of crazy and also without the last 5 letters of his name. He's still a total mutant. Everything you see is part of the true Vergil, it doesn't exclusively exist as some what-could-have-been look into a happier timeline story. The skipping and the prancing and the merry jigs, the wacky adventures alongside some zoo escapees. All Vergil's passions.

All V's done is shown that whenever Vergil goes on about having the power to protect things, he's not talking about other people because he holds nobody dear and he's down to imaginary talking critters in that department. Vergil's need to protect is actually pertaining to shallow hobby stuff like making sure nobody breaks the little stand that holds his sheet music or having the ability to get Berial denied entry to the local cooking contest so he can win.
