TopicDid Vergil actually think he wouldn't lose to Nero next time?

Devil May Cry 4 is Vergil's proudest exaggeration.
Presumably again, the narrator of DMC4 Vergil mode is a post-DMC1 Vergil not so much attempting to come to terms with his experiences but rather fabricating outrageous lies in the hope of preserving his image.

There is only an opening and ending cutscene. Everything else is as follows. Here's how it goes according to Vergil.
-Vergil starts by immediately defeating Dante in a church.
-He then tears through town and defeats Mundus' son Berial easily.
-He sprints to an ice castle for no reason, fumbles around with some gyro blades and evil ghost knights (An attempt to distance himself from his time as Nelo Angelo) before defeating Bael easily.
-In a preview of his days as noted tree hugger Urizen, he then makes a beeline for the forest and defeats Echidna with little to no effort.
-Vergil visits a giant castle and kills Credo, probably not even getting his name. Dante apparently survived the start. Vergil defeats him again. Agnus is the same deal as Credo. Encounter followed by immediate hostility and a quick defeat.
-Vergil beats up Sanctus and decides to spare him.
-Turns out everyone Vergil defeated lived and came back for more. Vergil retraces his path and defeats Echidna, Bael/Dagon, Berial and Agnus again.
-A giant evil statue comes out of nowhere. Vergil defeats it. He then plays a dice game, re-defeats Berial, Bael/Dagon, Echidna and Agnus AGAIN before finally defeating Sanctus and going home.

And that's not even getting into the moves he's made up for himself. Instant Judgement Cuts? Air Stingers? A high speed buzzsaw version of Lunar Phase? Right, with the Beowulf and Force Edge that he definitely had back then?

Who is going to believe this story? At the end of DMC5 is he sitting in Nico's van going "Son let me tell you a wonderful story. Remember when you beat up Credo and then Sanctus finished him off? Remember how you were torn up about it for years? Well surprise! None of it happened. It was all me." and then mumbling something about motivation when the rest of the room just stares at him in cautious anticipation?
