I think there's room to argue that that doesn't have to be true in the modern world, where we have enough of an understanding of nutrition and agriculture is happening on a large enough scale that we could hypothetically make sure that everybody has ready access to complete nutrition, but the logistics of that and the need to strictly dictate what every farmer grows introduce more than a few problems. --- This is my signature.
