| Topic | The Pokemon anime ditches Ash and Pikachu, two new protagonists in a new series |
| Nanis23 12/17/22 10:18:04 AM #43: | The more I think about it the more I wonder what are they going to do with Pikachu Getting rid of Ash is one thing...but getting rid of Pikachu is...pretty huge Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise. Most of it is because of merchandise. And from my visits to Pokemon Centers in Japan a few years ago, I assume something like 1/3 of the merchandise are Pikachu-related. There are so many of them! Now with Pikachu gone from the anime...will it kill Pikachu popularity? probably not, but I believe it will hit it somewhat. So maybe they plan something, like bringing it back...or a totally different Pikachu (maybe even a female one with a different personallity) The thing is, the Pokemon Company has some amazing marketing geniuses working for them so I am not worried, but I can't help but wonder what they are going to do with it --- wololo ...
