As usual, the previous topic will be open for another day or so in case anyone still wants to vote

Here is Raetsel_Lapin on the picks this week:

"Common sense has prevailed this time and I've refrained from picking anything that would be considered truly outlandish. We have:

One of the more accessible albums by my current favorite band, which I know has fans on this board because I only learned about them from here.

A sentimental favorite of mine that no one else would be interested in, -but- is relatively harmless. It's just some 80's pop music about love performed by a musical legend. I was going to nominate Barbra Streisand's soundtrack to Yentl in this place, but I backed down at the last minute & went with something that would at least be grudgingly tolerated if it somehow won.

And the best selling album of all time which will assuredly win by default.

BRING ME THE HORIZON - THAT'S THE SPIRIT

Length: 11 songs, 45 minutes
Genre: Nu Metal/Post Metal/Alternative Rock
Year: 2015

The album where BMtH completely abandoned their metalcore roots in favor of a much more mainstream sound, actually transitioning away from metal entirely on some tracks. This resulted in their best-selling album & what is likely the best choice for this topic. While they maintain their anger & lyrics dealing with depression, it's all packaged in tracks that are fairly easy to listen to considering the subject matter.

Favorite Song - Doomed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oc0ja19_GU

While not my favorite version of the song (the "Live at the Royal Albert Hall" version is basically the best song ever), I listened to versions of this song over 80 times last year. ...Granted, 70+ of those were said live version, but this one also got a lot of play. A good version of my current favorite song & a perfect introduction to the album's themes and style.

Least Favorite - Drown:

The lyrics are fine, but I've just never really clicked with the song and find anything it does to be performed better elsewhere on the album.

DOLLY PARTON - REAL LOVE

Length: 10 songs, 35 minutes
Genre: 80's Pop with some country flair
Year: 1985

From that point in the 80's where Dolly was trying to become a pop star, this is easily her at her poppiest. And I know it is blasphemy to pick a non-country album for Dolly, -but- this is an album with personal significance to me. We didn't have many albums growing up and one of the few we did have was a compilation album featuring the best songs from this album. The songs are drilled into my heart & I love this. Objectively, I should nominate Jolene & maybe I will some other day. But I want to use one slot on an album that means a lot to me personally & this is the most tolerable selection from the personal favorite category. It's just 80's pop songs about love. That's it.

Favorite Song - It's Such A Heartache:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV6sRVxwh3E

Pop break-up song. I love it.

Least Favorite - I Can't Be True:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3xjEhPng30

An overly happy ode to cheating that Dolly cannot pull off. She's so sweet that even trying to perform this song is farcical and it's not good enough that anyone could salvage it. It is the only song from the album that I'd call bad.

MICHAEL JACKSON - THRILLER:

Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, P.Y.T., The Girl Is Mine, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'... it's a stacked album and you don't need me to hype it up. Consider this a freebie while I survey people's response to BMtH & Dolly.

Favorite Song - Beat It:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRdxUFDoQe0

...Oh come on, you already know this song.

Least Favorite - The Lady in My Life:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJLH5yXoqi8

After a barrage of hit singles, we end with this song which isn't *bad* but is completely outclassed to a point that it feels like a very unsatisfying conclusion."
