#196:

And two more to end the afternoon.

#625: Swamp Dogg - Star Dust (3:48):
https://open.spotify.com/track/6xrc5tHxfGpy9W5OZ21lX0?si=34cd35d664e24822

Nominator: CPU [23/30 Remaining]

Initial Score: 53.06
Revised Score: 53.06
Final Score: 55.13

(First Reaction: A sweet song with some slight bias in its favor for references to lonely nights and dreams. Not really a hit song, but it's very nice and probably deserves a higher score than I'm giving it right now.)

This is another track for the "songs that seem like I should like them more than I do" pile. It's performed well, doesn't have any real weak spots for me to criticize, and features a topic that should be worth all the points: Sadly reminiscing about lost loves in the middle of the night? I love sadness and night! But somehow while the song is quite nice and doesn't have any missteps, I'm not really into it. It's quality and I like it, but only in a low-to-mid 50's type of way, I'm afraid.

[Final Thoughts: The right notes and the right lyrics, but still firmly in the "kinda like" section of the list.]

#624: Every Time I Die - A Colossal Wreck (2:28):
https://open.spotify.com/track/7K86TpV5LgA94SPV7SGU5A?si=dd3d652248bc4084

Nominator: Bane [28/38 Remaining]

Initial Score: 63.04
Revised Score: 57.92
Final Score: 55.209

(First Reaction: I quite like the outro/final verse on this track:

Now I'm just killing time
Until time decides I've had enough

Simple, but something I really enjoy.)

!Good lyrics, but I'm in a bit less of a scream-y type of angry mood to properly appreciate this at the moment.

[Final Thoughts: Ow. Chronologically this writeup was typed up just after a really weird song caused me to burst into multiple 80's pop hits (we'll get to that particular song eventually) & the tonal whiplash of going directly from the Pet Shop Boys to ETID is quite physically painful.

This song's anger can be incredibly appealing when it's what I'm in the mood for (see: Initial Score), but when I'm not in the mood for rage-filled screaming then it's... it's all a bit much. I still kinda like it, and arguably should give a lot of points because it's perfect for what it's doing & there are definitely times where I'll really like it, but... yeah "a bit much" sums up my current take.]

[Later: The fun part is that I have no idea what writeup those Final Thoughts are referencing, nor which songs I spontaneously burst into, nor -why- that happens.]
