I still have no idea why anyone would want to use a microphone when doing online gaming.
Its pretty great when you are playing with friends in competitive games. Left 4 dead 1 and 2 versus or gears of war 3 its going to give you an advantage for setting up easy combos on the fly. (Cross lancering/hammerbursting someone in general in gears of war games is strong as hell).

Playing with your random average online dork/gamer in voice chat these days tends to be pointless the vast majority of the time. In the past it was possible to meet and befriend others that is just trying to chill and get some strategy going (which was actually a lot of random players I met in left 4 dead 2 on the 360 all those years ago.....man I miss the community for that game), but nowadays yeah...really just prefer using old-fashioned text chat with a usb keyboard if I am playing on a console. I have played overwatch in competitive for a few seasons, and that game alone just make you want to give up on all communication with random players for good. Soul crushing stuff, lol.

What bugs me out is the same type of gamers that act like jackasses on voice chat turn around and get mad when they find out the vast majority of online gamers prefer to stick in party chat with friends or something like discord to avoid all public voice chat channels nowadays.
