I'd say they have just as much reason as when Trump was investigated for colluding with Russia.

With the very key difference that there was ample reason to suspect guilt there, not just some random dude on Instagram saying there might be a problem. That suspicion did ultimately bear fruit in that it was found conclusively that Russia interfered with the election in ways that benefited Trump, just not that Trump had any direct hand in it (and even that wasn't a definitive conclusion of innocence, just recognition that there's no need to conclude guilt).

Gas is still over $3 a gallon average. The average price on the day he took office was $2.39. I dont think this is the slam dunk you think it is.

Nobody with half a brain ever thought any of this was a slam dunk. Obviously it was stupid to blame high gas prices on Biden (especially given that the GOP voted unanimously against an anti-price gouging bill that would have cut down on the extent to which oil companies are screwing everyone over), and obviously it's equally stupid to blame prices going down on him. It's quite rare that the president can be so clearly blamed for something as complex as gas prices, and when they can, it's usually something really obvious (like invading Iraq).
