Wow so cheap! Where do you live? Kinda crazy that youre being asked to pay every month just to reserve a spot though. We paid $150 to be on the wait list and that was put towards tuition. Then when her spot was available it was a one month deposit which is last months tuition.
Yeah we live in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. We used nannylane and Care.com for our nanny search and we definitely saw some of the sky high prices that you alluded to. There were a few gems in the $16-$17/hr range, but this kid we ultimately settled on was a no brainer. We interviewed her at the house and our daughter seemed very receptive to her. Plus she already had a decent background in working daycares and her references checked out. Seemed an easy hire and she's been great (lol I never see her because I work so much - the wife works remotely).

The reason why we're paying to maintain her seat at the daycare is because 1) we're deferring for so long and 2) her seat is guaranteed. I'm looking forward to her starting as we checked the daycare out and it looks nice. We were about to have her start much sooner because we couldn't find a nanny. Now that we've secured one, we can keep her home longer until she's a year old or so before we start.
