We currently have a nanny who is $13/hr for 35 hours a week. She's like a 20 year old kid who actually used to work in a daycare but the distance was too far. She lives like 10 minutes from us so being our nanny was convenient for her too.

My daughter is 7 months old now and she'll begin daycare at roughly the 14 month mark. Her seat is already locked in and we'll be paying them around $350/month from now until she starts - this money ultimately will go towards her tuition.

Wow so cheap! Where do you live? Kinda crazy that youre being asked to pay every month just to reserve a spot though. We paid $150 to be on the wait list and that was put towards tuition. Then when her spot was available it was a one month deposit which is last months tuition.

Yeah i can't imagine dropping my kid off at a daycare. Partly because i don't know how these places take care of so many kids at once when mine and others are so needy. Also because im cheap. My son has become a little less needy and particular though since he just turned one.
Glad my wife works the weekdays 8-5 and my job is flexible where i can work friday and saturday nights.

Think eventually we will be needing a babysitter for one day so i can consistently work more.

Yeah I wouldnt have put her earlier. 18 months is where I felt most comfortable because shes a lot more self sufficient now and can communicate to a degree. I know they have a ratio of 6 kids per teacher but it will help her learn structure and to listen to the teacher. Im more worried about another kid hurting her or being mean. I plan on putting her in some karate or kung fu classes to learn self defense. None of that love and peace crap, I will be teaching my daughter to fight back if anyone messes with her.
