8. The Watcher (Shudder)

I was looking forward to this one, a lot because Maika Monroe (who looks like an actual adult now) was in it. It was solid.

The Watcher is about a woman who goes to Romania with her boyfriend, but she sees someone staring at her from a window in the building across the street, and then she suspects he's following her, but people are not inclined to believe it.

So this film feels solid. That's about it though. It didn't blow me away or anything, but it was still a good film that did some creepy stuff with the concept and it kept me guessing whether or not she was actually being stalked literally the whole time. I never felt certain, and I guess that's exactly what they wanted you to take from it.

It's expertly woven in, and it doesn't treat you like a dummy. Everything falls into place and you're often rewarded for remembering certain things and specific details. That said, it feels a bit long, even at its 96 minute run time. Some parts drug on a little bit too much for my liking, but the parts that deserved to spend time on absolutely got the time it needed.

If the concept interests you, I'd say definitely check it out. It's really good for what it is and probably among the best you'll get for this concept.
