4. Dark Glasses (Shudder... Soon)

So I happened to get home right before Shudder did their special secret debut movie, so I turned it on. Turns out, it was Dark Glasses, Dario Argento's newest film.

This movie follows a prostitute who is being hunted by a serial killer and goes blind in a car accident involved in that. Teaming up with a boy whose parents were also involved in that car accident, they must find and stop the serial killer before it's too late.

When the most interesting part of your movie is the steps it takes for someone to start living life as blind, it's probably a bad sign. Dario Argento just feels like he's forever trapped in the 70's, and this movie just does not feel interesting, good, or entertaining. The acting was solid, but man did nothing work well in this film.

It's all just over the top and cheesy. The editing and "action" was clearly chopped in a way that showed the budget was next to nothing. Nothing is too compelling or interesting. And I just found myself bored more than anything. It's kind of sad to watch a legend make such a lackluster film in 2022.

It gets points for acting and an amazing soundtrack that is common for most Argento productions, but besides that this was a huge miss. You don't need to check it out unless you're curious about it.
