If he punches up, the Moon will be sent away, but unless he can punch the Moon so hard it escapes Earth's gravitational pull, there's nothing stopping it from coming back again. DK needs to give his first punch everything he's got, because the expended energy from that means he won't be able to top it with his next punch if it isn't enough. The Moon wins.
